Academy Insights Highlights Academy’s Mission to Serve the Public and the Profession
|
The latest issue of Academy Insights, the Academy’s quarterly newsletter for nonmember stakeholders, offers perspective on the Academy’s mission to serve the public and the U.S. actuarial profession. Items include Executive Director Bill Michalisin’s Contingencies column on the Academy hiring staff actuaries; topical features from the magazine; analysis and insight into the Social Security and Medicare annual trustees’ reports; issues in focus at September’s retirement symposium; and a preview of next week’s cyber-risk webinar. This is a great resource for your non-actuarial peers and external stakeholders, which we encourage you to share.

Help the Academy Prepare for Potentially Disruptive Events The Academy continues to seek your input on potentially disruptive events, defined as significant developments (e.g., emergencies and disasters, or a cure for chronic disease) that are not covered by routine measures; that can be caused by natural, man-made, or artificial circumstances; and that cause current actuarial models to no longer be effective. Your input could help inform professional response protocols, risk management strategies, and the identification of future opportunities to ensure the U.S. actuarial profession remains resilient and ready for whatever comes next. ▶ Share your input—Visit the Potentially Disruptive Events webpage.
