ABOUT THIS WEBINAR

Climate-related disclosure expectations continue to evolve, and Scope 3 emissions remain one of the most complex and debated aspects of sustainability reporting. For insurers and other financial institutions, important questions persist around how indirect emissions should be measured, attributed, disclosed, and used to inform decision-making.

Based on the American Academy of Actuaries’ policy paper, Scope 3 Emissions for Property/Casualty Insurers, this webinar will examine the practical realities of Scope 3 emissions reporting. Speakers will discuss data limitations, methodological challenges, attribution considerations, and emerging stakeholder expectations. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of both the opportunities and constraints of current reporting approaches, as well as how risk professionals can evaluate the reliability and decision usefulness of Scope 3 metrics.

This session will provide a practical, risk-based perspective on the role of Scope 3 emissions in climate-related disclosure and risk management.

  • Describe the purpose and significance of Scope 3 emissions in climate-related disclosures.
  • Identify key challenges associated with measuring, attributing, and reporting indirect emissions.
  • Evaluate the strengths and limitations of current Scope 3 emissions methodologies and data sources.
  • Assess how Scope 3 metrics can inform risk management, governance, and strategic decision-making.
  • Understand emerging expectations from regulators, investors, and other stakeholders regarding climate-related reporting.
