Projecting principle-based reserves (PBR) and required capital continues to grow in both necessity and complexity. Recent developments, including the introduction of VM-22 and the Generator of Economic Scenarios (GOES), are driving this shift. This session will explore how actuaries can navigate that complexity in practice.

Speakers will discuss:

  • Common use cases for principle-based approach (PBA) projections, such as asset adequacy testing (AAT), risk-based capital (RBC), forecasting, pricing, and dynamic investment strategies.
  • Recent regulatory and industry changes affecting this space.
  • Assumption setting considerations, focusing on the connection between outer loop projection path assumptions and inner loop principle-based valuation assumptions.
  • Modeling considerations, including inner loop and outer loop implementation, efficiency techniques, and validation of results.

This webinar is designed for actuaries directly involved in, or supporting, PBA projections who want a practical, forward-looking discussion of these developments and challenges.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Assess the implications of recent developments for PBA projections.
  • Evaluate key modeling considerations, including implementation approaches, efficiency techniques, and validation practices.
  • Communicate PBA methodologies, assumptions, and results more effectively to company management
