The affordability of personal insurance has become a growing concern for consumers, insurers, regulators, and policymakers. Rising claim costs, inflation, catastrophe losses, supply chain disruptions, and changing economic conditions have contributed to increased costs in both private passenger automobile and homeowners insurance markets. At the same time, consumers are facing important decisions about coverage options, deductibles, and managing their financial risks.

This webinar will examine the key factors driving insurance affordability in personal lines. Committee members will discuss emerging cost pressures (such as vehicle repair and replacement expenses), construction and rebuilding costs, severe weather events, and broader economic trends that influence insurance premiums. This webinar will also explore how coverage design, consumer behavior, and market dynamics impact both the affordability and availability of insurance protection.

Attendees will gain a better understanding of the challenges facing today’s personal insurance marketplace and the considerations involved in balancing affordability, consumer protection, and financial sustainability.

At the conclusion of this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand key drivers affecting the affordability of insurance in personal lines.
  • Describe how economic, market, and risk-related factors influence insurance costs and premiums.
  • Recognize how coverage options, deductibles, and consumer choices can affect insurance affordability and financial protection.
