ILVA/RILA & AG54 : Overview and Intro to Excel Lambda Libraries
Jun. 3, 2026
Time:12:00PM to 1:30PM EDT
Registration Closes:Jun. 3, 2026
ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
The increase in Registered Index-Linked Annuities (RILAs)/Index-Linked Variable Annuities (ILVAs) has prompted regulatory evolution, including the adoption of Actuarial Guideline LIV (AG 54). This 90-minute webinar will provide an overview of Index-Linked Variable Annuity (ILVA)/Registered Index-Linked Annuity (RILA), a policy paper published in Dec. 2025, that presented a description of definitions, relevant product considerations, and practices believed to be commonly used by actuaries employed by life insurance companies issuing RILA/ILVA products.
In addition to an overview of ILVA as it relates to AG 54, this webinar will feature a hands-on presentation on leveraging Excel’s Lambda Dynamic Array Function to build reusable, extensible libraries for replicating data. The Academy hosts the Excel Lambda Array to replicate the duplicate the calculations in AG54. This functional programming approach offers actuaries a powerful framework for streamlining complex calculations and improving consistency across workflows.
After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Recognize RILA/ILVAs and common index strategies.
- Explain Interim Value under AG 54 and the IIPRC-A-03-I-ILVA standard.
- Understand how to apply Excel’s Lambda Dynamic Array Function to create reusable, extensible libraries for replicating actuarial data.
- Describe how this functional programming approach was demonstrated and adapted in the context of the policy paper, including how to access open-source code libraries hosted by the Academy.
