Contingencies is looking for a volunteer to write our popular puzzle column. We’re seeking someone who enjoys crafting clever, story-driven puzzles that invite readers in with an engaging scenario before challenging them to think in unexpected ways.

The best puzzles don’t require advanced mathematics—they’re approachable on the surface but contain a satisfying twist that rewards creativity and insight. We’re looking for someone with a steady stream of puzzle ideas (whether original or inspired by other sources), a clear and engaging writing style, and a willingness to connect with readers by responding to the solutions they submit.

Most of all, we’re looking for someone who enjoys creating those memorable moments that keep readers coming back issue after issue.
