Climate Events and Insurance Affordability

Members of the Climate Change Joint Committee, along with Washington Insurance Commissioner Patty Kuderer, presented, Climate Events and Insurance Affordability, at the 2025 SOA ImpACT Conference. The session explored how to balance the ability to offer affordable insurance coverage to homeowners and small businesses when the cost and impact of major climate events escalate year after year. Bringing together insights from state regulators and insurers, they discussed strategies to maintain accessible and sustainable insurance solutions in the face of climate uncertainty.
