WASHINGTON—On Nov. 13, the American Academy of Actuaries will release and discuss the first assessments that will grade retirement-income systems and proposals using the Academy’s “Retirement for the AGES” framework. By illustrating the strengths and shortcomings of such systems and proposals, the AGES (Alignment, Governance, Efficiency, and Sustainability) framework is designed to help address the needs of retirement plan stakeholders in both the private and public sectors.

Assessments of the following systems and proposals will be released and discussed by a panel of retirement thought leaders: The USA Retirement Funds Act (S.1979), introduced by Sen. Tom Harkin; the South Dakota Retirement System; the New Brunswick Plan Shared Risk Model; a sample defined contribution plan; and a sample traditional single private-employer defined benefit plan. In addition, the panel will discuss plans and proposals on which the Academy intends to produce assessments in the future.

The panel discussion session is open to the media. For credentialing, media should RSVP to David Mendes at 202.384.2075 or mendes@actuary.org
