Academy Member-Selected Director Nominations

Academy members will have an opportunity to nominate candidates for member-selected director (MSD) seats on the Academy’s Board throughout May 2026 for terms beginning in December. MSDs serve three-year terms, and as Board members, they are relied upon to:

  1. Represent the Academy and fulfill the oversight role of the Board as committed members.
  2. Think strategically and analytically, and clearly articulate their thinking as they consider strategic priorities and direction for the Board.
  3. Understand the stakeholder landscape and possess the aptitude to engage and develop relationships with key stakeholder group members.
  4. Work collaboratively as a Board member within group decision-making and demonstrate an understanding of the fiduciary duties of loyalty, care, and obedience.
  5. Understand the differences between “oversight” and “supervision” while working to fulfill the Academy’s mission.
  6. Reinforce the Academy’s core values and apply effective decision making with emotional maturity, personal integrity, and honesty.
  7. Develop and demonstrate familiarity with the Board’s decision-making processes and practices as well as the substantive content of the subject area within which decisions and choices will have to be made, including practice-specific issues and topics.
