Academy Officers and Directors Begin Terms in Office

WASHINGTON—The American Academy of Actuaries is pleased to announce that, in addition to Tricia Matson, MAAA, FSA, of New London, Conn., taking office as 2025-26 Academy president, five other officers and four directors began terms on the Academy Board of Directors on Nov. 21.

The officers, elected at the Academy Board of Directors meeting on Oct. 21, include President-Elect Frank Todisco, MAAA, FSA, FCA, EA, chief actuary at the U.S. Government Accountability Office and an active Academy volunteer since 2004. He is a past member-selected Academy director and past vice chairperson of the Actuarial Standards Board, and was the Academy’s senior pension fellow from 2006 to 2008. “I have developed an enormous appreciation of the value of the Academy to the actuarial profession and to policymakers and the public in the United States,” said Todisco. “I will give my very best to help lead the Academy to continued excellence in carrying out its important mission.”

Benjamin Slutsker, MAAA, FSA, is now serving a third and final one-year term as Academy secretary. His previous volunteer service includes serving as Academy vice president, life, as chairperson of the PBR Assumption Resource Manual Work Group, and in numerous other positions.

Three Academy vice presidents started two-year terms:Vice President, Retirement, Bruce Cadenhead, MAAA, FSA, FCA, EA; Vice President, Risk Management and Financial Reporting, William Jones, MAAA, FCAS; andVice President, Life, Kirsten Pedersen, MAAA, FSA.

Three member-selected directors started three-year terms: Joseph Hicks, MAAA, EA, MSPA; Ron Ogborne, MAAA, FSA; and Rebecca Sheppard, MAAA, FSA. They were nominated as a slate by the Nominating Committee and elected by Academy members this summer. Joyce Bohl, MAAA, ASA, started and will serve a two-year term as a Board-selected director.
