Rade Musulin Receives Jarvis Farley Service Award from the American Academy of Actuaries
WASHINGTON—American Academy of Actuaries 2024-25 President Darrell Knapp, MAAA, FSA, presented Rade Musulin, MAAA, ACAS, with the Jarvis Farley Service Award at the Academy’s Leadership Summit and Governance Transition event in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 21.
Named after Academy charter member and accomplished volunteer Jarvis Farley, the award is presented annually to an actuary whose volunteer efforts on behalf of the Academy have made significant contributions to the advancement of the profession.
“Through more than 25 years of dedicated volunteer service to the Academy, Rade’s prolific contributions have had a profound impact on his colleagues and public policy stakeholders—and that impact has been felt in the United States and around the world,” Knapp said at the award ceremony. “Rade’s service accomplishments are innumerable, but many have been in the areas of climate change, extreme events, government relations, and communications.”
A former Academy casualty vice president, Musulin has served on multiple Academy committees and work groups. Many of his efforts have centered on advancing knowledge and public acceptance of hurricane and catastrophe models, and broadening property/casualty practice-area conversations to include climate risk, cyber risk, and sustainability. He currently serves on the Academy’s Research and International Committees.
“Volunteer work with the Academy and other actuarial organizations has kept me at the cutting edge of emerging practice areas,” Musulin said in recorded acceptance remarks. “Volunteer work has allowed me to give back to the profession that has given me so much. Some of my proudest moments have involved helping many younger actuaries build their careers.”
