ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
Monetary policy is easing but remains constrained by persistent above-target inflation levels. Despite continuing high interest rates, capital market values are near record highs, prompting some analysts to warn that U.S. stocks are outpacing fundamentals and could face a correction, especially in the large-cap growth sector where talk of a “bubble” is increasing.

Uncertainties such as rising federal debt, demographic shifts, slowing globalization, and technological change add complexity to the market outlook.

As actuarial practice has evolved, the links between the valuation of pension liabilities and capital market asset valuations have become clearer. But, in setting valuation assumptions, actuaries often need to look through the short-term market swings and develop views about the long-term level of interest rates and a sustainable expectation for portfolio returns. Looking through all this turmoil, what can we conclude about the bottom-line impacts on capital markets and the economy?

This session will provide an update on current capital market conditions and some perspectives on what might be expected over the longer term.
