Continuing Education Credits

Actuarial Continuing Education Information

The Academy’s Annual Meeting and Public Policy Forum is an excellent way to remain current with the latest issues and activities affecting actuaries, while meeting your continuing education requirements and networking with your colleagues.

At this time, by attending the entire Annual Meeting and Public Policy Forum, the agenda will enable attendees to earn up to

  • 13.6 organized activity continuing education credits, depending upon your area of practice,
  • 1.5 hours of business CE credits, and
  • 4.2 hours of professionalism CE credits.

Remember that, in addition to satisfying this year’s CE requirements, you may also roll over excess CE credit to help complete next year’s requirements.

Credentialed actuaries from any of the five U.S.-based actuarial organizations issuing statements of actuarial opinions (SAOs) in the United States are required to complete at least thirty (30) CE hours of “relevant continuing education” each calendar year. At least three hours must be on professionalism topics and at least six hours must be from “organized activities” as defined in the U.S. Qualification Standards.

For more information on qualifications and CE requirements, please visit the U.S. Qualification Standards homepage.

Core Ethics CPE Credits at Annual Meeting and Public Policy Forum

The Academy believes in good faith that you may earn 2.7 continuing professional education (CPE) core ethics credits under the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries (JBEA) rules for attending the professionalism plenary session at the Annual Meeting and Public Policy Forum. The JBEA makes the final determination about what constitutes core, non-core, ethics, or non-ethics CPE and the number of CPE credit hours allocated.
