American Academy of Actuaries Recognizes 2025 Outstanding Volunteers and Rising Actuaries
WASHINGTON—The American Academy of Actuaries recognized outstanding Academy volunteers and emerging actuarial leaders with awards presented at the Academy’s Leadership Summit and Governance Transition event in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 21.
Four Academy members were recognized with the Academy’s 2025 Outstanding Volunteerism Awards for exceptional volunteer contributions to the Academy’s work during the past year, and seven members received the 2025 Rising Actuary Awards, which recognize emerging actuarial leaders 40 years old and younger or credentialed seven years or less. 2024-25 Academy President Darrell Knapp, MAAA, FSA, presented the awards recognizing:
2025 American Academy of Actuaries Outstanding Volunteerism Award Recipients
- Marc Altschull, MAAA, FSA, for his excellent subcommittee leadership and instrumental role in the creation and development of a successful, major new Academy event, the Insurance Investment Summit.
- Tyson Mohr, MAAA, FSA, for wide-ranging, impactful contributions on equity and fairness issues, and intensive efforts to gain a deeper understanding of the interaction between the actuarial perspective and those issues.
- Derek Skoog, MAAA, FSA, for outstanding service as chairperson of multiple committees while serving as a member of others, and his stewardship of a critical response to regulatory needs.
- Claire Wolkoff, MAAA, FSA, for her effective, inclusive leadership on multiple high-profile Academy projects and notable representation of the profession, including to younger/future actuaries.
