The new year is upon us, and like clockwork the Academy has published its annual updated law manuals for life and casualty actuaries. These useful reference tools, the Life and Health Valuation Law Manual and the P/C Loss Reserve Law Manual, are available for purchase and download.
Life and Health Valuation Law Manual
The life and health manual contains information to help appointed actuaries know the NAIC model Standard Valuation Law and the model Actuarial Opinion and Memorandum Regulation requirements. It includes a concise summary of the valuation laws and the NAIC regulations for all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, including:
- Jurisdiction-specific valuation laws and regulations in a consistent, organized format;
- Clarifications around implementation of principles-based reserving; and
- Adoptions of new NAIC model laws.
P/C Loss Reserve Law Manual
The P/C loss reserve law manual is designed to help appointed actuaries know the requirements for statements of actuarial opinion (SAOs). It contains a compilation of insurance laws relating to P/C loss and loss expense reserves for all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, including:
- SAO requirements and the laws and regulations establishing those requirements;
- Annual statement instructions for the SAO for property/casualty, title loss, and loss expense reserves; and
- Other pertinent annual statement instructions.
Both manuals are available for single-user or multiple-user purchase, and the P/C loss reserve manual is also available with per-jurisdiction access. This allows interested actuaries and employers to select the version that best meets their specific needs. Order today to gain immediate access to these essential references.
