Academy Presents at NAIC—AI, Affordability Are Key Topics
The NAIC Summer National Meeting in Minneapolis in mid-August featured regulators, industry representatives, and consumer advocates. Academy volunteers and other stakeholders showed up to “do the work,” as NAIC President Jon Godfread put it, “not with slogans, but with substance.” Top issues discussed included artificial intelligence (AI), risk-based capital, and insurance affordability.

Retirement Volunteers Visit Federal Agencies
Academy Retirement Practice Council (RPC) members and staff visited several key federal agencies in mid-September, meeting with staff from the Congressional Budget Office and Congressional Research Service to discuss retirement priorities, including Social Security solvency, defined benefit plans, and the RPC’s work.

Academy Attends NCSL Legislative Summit
Academy representatives attended the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) 2025 Legislative Summit in Boston, participating in meetings with state legislators and other stakeholders, discussing key casualty, health, retirement, and risk-management issues. The 50th anniversary summit included a special focus on AI and cybersecurity, extreme weather events, and affordability.
