S&P Global Podcast Highlights Actuaries’ Vital Insurance System Role Through the Academy | | | |
The vital role of actuaries and a deep dive into the Academy’s extensive work on structured securities is the focus of the latest edition of S&P Global’s “Look Forward” video podcast, “The American Academy of Actuaries: Shaping Insurance’s Future.” The LPC C1 Subcommittee Chairperson Stephen Smith informs the podcast’s global audience about the ongoing critical technical advice the Academy has been providing to the NAIC on collateralized loan obligations through the development of precise and objective risk measures. Academy Employer Outreach Continues With Connecticut Presentation The Academy’s strategic support of employer professional education of actuaries continued Tuesday with Committee on Professional Responsibility member Matthew Wininger presenting on “Actuarial Professionalism With GenAI” at the Gen Re Actuarial Conference in Stamford, Conn. Topics included self-regulation and the U.S. actuarial profession, professionalism considerations for working in developing areas, and generative AI (GenAI) and professionalism. The latest Actuarially Sound blog post, Academy’s Work on VM-22 Shows Its Value as a Key NAIC Partner, highlights how the Life Practice Council (LPC) achieves its greatest policy impact from engagement with the NAIC. OUTREACH & NEWS Reminder—NAWA Virtual Annual Meeting Next Week A reminder that the Network of Actuarial Women and Allies (NAWA) will hold its 2025 virtual annual meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 30, from noon to 4 p.m. EDT. The program will include an AI panel featuring Academy AI Subcommittee Chairperson Dorothy Andrews. In-person happy hours will follow the online event in Chicago, New York, and Seattle.
