Actuarial Standards of Practice

Actuarial Standards of Practice

The Actuarial Standards Board (ASB) sets standards for appropriate actuarial practice in the United States through the development and promulgation of Actuarial Standards of Practice (ASOPs). ASOPs describe the procedures an actuary should follow when performing actuarial services and identify what the actuary should disclose when communicating the results of those services.

These are standards developed by the relevant committee for this practice area(s) but not the only standards that may apply to a practitioner. It is up to the individual actuary to review the standards and determine which ones apply to their work.
