As you perform actuarial services, you may have questions about how to interpret the Code of Professional Conduct, the actuarial standards of practice, and the U.S. Qualification Standards, or you may find yourself navigating other difficult professionalism issues. In such cases, when you would like to talk to a peer with professionalism expertise, requesting guidance from the Actuarial Board for Counseling and Discipline (ABCD) may be helpful.
Most of the ABCD’s work involves providing confidential guidance to actuaries seeking to clarify their obligations under professional standards. Talking through a professionalism issue with an ABCD member helps provide direction on how to think about and resolve ethical dilemmas.
Our expert panelists reviewed the process for requesting guidance, discussed several case studies based on common requests for guidance received by the ABCD, and provided a forum for attendees to submit questions and receive answers.
