ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
In 2023, the Office of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) Participant and Plan Sponsor Advocate launched its Retirement Security Policy Initiative to examine the private sector defined benefit system and explore what PBGC can do, in accordance with its statutory mission to preserve, promote, and protect the system. During 2024, the Office conducted a series of informal roundtables with various stakeholders including participant and plan sponsor advocacy groups, actuaries, academics, and other industry experts. Topics included the role of PBGC plan premiums and their structure, alternative defined benefit plan structures, and what activities PBGC can undertake now to promote retirement security and showcase the value of the defined benefit plan system.
This webinar, which will be of interest to practitioners and stakeholders, will discuss the results released in December and their possible impact on plan sponsors and participants, as well as future public policy changes that will promote the continuation of private sector defined benefit plans.
