Request an Academy Public Policy Speaker
As a service to the public and the actuarial profession, the Academy maintains a speakers bureau of Academy volunteers and staff who share the Academy’s non-partisan work and objective actuarial perspective on public policy issues through speaking engagements at actuarial clubs serving U.S. actuaries, as well as for events held by employers, non-profits, think tanks, associations, and stakeholder groups. Sample public policy topic areas may include, but are not limited to:
- Overview/update on Academy public policy activities (federal and/or state)
- Social Security’s financial condition and reform options
- Medicare’s financial condition and reform options
- Retirement and lifetime income policy (e.g., defined-benefit pensions, retirement plan design, annuities)
- Principle-based reserving for life insurance
- Financial reporting and enterprise risk management
- Actuarial perspectives on topics in:
- Health insurance (e.g., care delivery, premiums, costs, health equity)
- Property/casualty insurance (e.g., flood, wildfire, and cyber risk; climate change)
- Regulatory and legislative activity related to actuarial data and modeling and AI in insurance or retirement systems
All request fulfillments are subject to speaker availability to address the desired subject matter and financial limitations. Speaker requests should be submitted a minimum of four weeks in advance and host agrees to allow the Academy to use photos of speaker’s appearance for reporting or publicity in all Academy media channels.
