ENVISION TOMORROW
Envision Tomorrow Focuses on Key Election-Year Issues
The Academy held a successful annual meeting, Envision Tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday in Washington, D.C., putting a spotlight on key issues with less than three weeks until the presidential election. The theme of the meeting was “Exploring a World of Risk” and included such topics as the global risk environment, climate change, aging, financial inclusion, state regulatory trends, Medicare, artificial intelligence (AI), and Social Security. It also featured a general session on the Academy’s commitment to professionalism as a self-regulated profession.

In her address, Academy President Lisa Slotznick highlighted the 2024 Election Issues Clearinghouse covering many of the above issues. The Academy’s presidential and leadership transition will take place next month, when Slotznick will be succeeded by President-Elect Darrell Knapp.
Meeting highlights:
Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Gen. Wesley Clark gave the opening keynote address on global political and security risks, and keynote speaker Leroy Nunery offered insights into financial inclusion.

The Academy also bestowed its annual awards—the Jarvis Farley Service Award to Al Bingham; the Robert J. Myers Public Service Award to Fred Andersen; Outstanding Volunteerism Awards to Rhonda Ahrens, Nancy Behrens, Michelle Iarkowski, and Becky Sheppard; the Award for Research to Doron Samuell; and the Rising Actuary Awards to nine recipients—Emma Casehart, Joe Dorocak, Tina Kang, Kirsten Knutson, Christopher Lombardi, Margo MacKenzie, Isabelle McCullough, Amanda Muhlbaier, and Silver Zhou—who will be profiled in the upcoming November/December Contingencies.
