Principle-based reserving (PBR) experts are coming to you. The Academy is once again offering its PBR Boot Camp, this time through a virtual platform, to provide useful and practical information for those at all levels of familiarity with PBR methodologies and reserve requirements. Participants will benefit from the depth of experience of the presenters for this highly regarded seminar and will have the opportunity to earn valuable continuing education (CE) credit, all in a convenient format.
The agenda was developed with your busy schedule in mind and to accommodate participants from across time zones. Sessions begin at noon EDT each of the four days and run through 5:15 p.m., providing multiple breaks throughout the afternoon. There will be time during each session to take questions from the audience. In addition, at the end of each day there will be a question-and-answer session for all of the day’s content to give you a chance to talk with the instructors and with other attendees.
What’s on the agenda?
- Day One: Overviews on life insurance and implementation of VM-20, mortality, and additional liability assumption.
- Day Two: Overviews on PBR life insurance assets, reinsurance, as well as a model overview and model governance.
- Day Three: Variable annuities.
- Day Four: Regulator and auditor reviews, and regulator updates.
The PBR Boot Camp program will provide you with the knowledge you need to understand PBR requirements and to effectively operate within the now fully implemented PBR.

CONTINUING EDUCATION
The American Academy of Actuaries believes in good faith that your attendance at the “PBR Boot Camp” seminar may constitute relevant continuing education and an organized activity as defined under the current Qualification Standards for Actuaries Issuing Statements of Actuarial Opinion in the United States depending upon your area of practice. Under the U.S. Qualification Standards, an hour of continuing education is defined as 50 minutes, and fractions of an hour may be counted.

CANCELLATION POLICY
The Academy will refund the registration fee, minus $100 for administrative fees, for cancellations received by Sept. 4, 2020. No refunds will be given for cancellations received after this date. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer the registration amount paid to another individual at your organization to apply towards their registration for this event. All requests for cancellation or transferring your registration must be made in writing by emailing Gwen Pegram (pegram@actuary.org).
