Dear Academy Member:
This year has been unprecedented. The global coronavirus pandemic with its public health and economic impacts, the national focus on social equity, and natural disasters including wildfires and an active hurricane season—2020 has tested Americans’ strength, patience, and resolve.
But through it all, despite the turmoil of this year, the American Academy of Actuaries has stayed the course on behalf of the U.S. actuarial profession.
Our mission—to serve the public and the United States actuarial profession—is made stronger with your participation. The Academy thanks you for your continuing membership and values your support for our shared mission. And with the 2020 calendar year nearing its end, it is time to renew your membership for 2021.
The Academy Board has authorized a modest increase in dues for 2021, bringing the full regular dues rate to $720. This will ensure that the Academy’s financial position remains strong as we continue to work on behalf of our members and the public by providing objective actuarial analysis on public policy relevant to actuaries in the United States, and assuring that the professionalism infrastructure of our self-regulating profession is comprehensive and responsive.
The Academy has worked diligently during this troubled year. “The Meaning of Your Membership” features key issues the Academy has addressed during 2020 in public policy and professionalism.
And we will continue to address many of these issues and more into 2021. The Academy is poised to assist and educate policymakers and the public with our objective, independent, and nonpartisan analysis of the actuarial components of the significant public policy issues of our time.
On behalf of the Academy Board and staff, thank you for your continued membership. We look forward to continuing our shared purpose in 2021.
