The Academy’s election vendor, Intelliscan, has provided the official results of the online and mailed votes cast by eligible members on two proposed changes to the Academy Bylaws. Proposal 1, a change recommended by the Academy Board of Directors, won a majority of votes but not the two-thirds supermajority required to be incorporated into our bylaws. Proposal 2, initiated by petition, was decisively voted down with 57.99 percent of votes against it. Read the member update. (November 11, 2018)

A letter from nine Academy presidents urges members to vote “Yes” on Proposal 1 and “No” on Proposal 2 in the Academy bylaws election now underway. The deadline to vote is this Friday, Nov. 9. Citing their decades-long experience on the Academy Board and as volunteers, they write, “We understand the very distinct and different position that the Academy has in the U.S. actuarial profession.
