In recent years Segal served as the vice president and chairperson of the American Academy of Actuaries Pension Practice Council. From 2005 to 2007, Segal also served on the American Academy of Actuaries board of directors, which he rejoins as the new president-elect of its sister organization, the Society of Actuaries. Segal has more than 40 years of actuarial experience. Currently he is a consulting actuary and vice president of J.P. Morgan Compensation and Benefit Strategies in New York. His career began in 1960 with Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States, where he rose through the ranks to become a vice president. Segal then segued to the consulting world, joining Milliman in 1982, Wolper Ross & Company in 1984, and the Segal Company from 1988 to 2005. He received the Society of Actuaries’ John E. O’Connor Distinguished Service Award in 2006 and the Conference of Consulting Actuaries’ Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. Segal is a graduate of Yale University.
