WASHINGTON – The American Academy of Actuaries honored Stephen Goss, chief actuary of the Social Security Administration, with the 2013 Robert J. Myers Public Service Award during a ceremony held earlier today at the organization’s Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon.
“It is my pleasure to announce that in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the public good through his more than 40 years of public service, the 19th recipient of the Myers Award is a successor of Bob Meyers, the Social Security Administration’s current chief actuary, Stephen Goss,” said Academy President Cecil Bykerk. “His colleagues have praised his work with the Social Security Administration and recognized his tireless efforts to provide impartial, non-partisan advice to its Commissioners, Boards of Trustees, other executive branch officials, and Congress. He is regarded as
a thought leader and mentor who has dedicated many years to the common good and public service on behalf of the actuarial profession.”
