The Academy hosted a Nov. 15 health symposium focused on strategies to increase the adoption of health equity-enhancing plan design elements. Participants and attendees included a diverse group of stakeholders and decision-makers and built on the Health Equity Committee’s four-part series of issues briefs. Committee Chairperson Annette James said that addressing equity isn’t just the right thing to do—it also makes business and economic sense.

The Health Practice Council outlined its 2024 priorities, which include health equity, public health challenges, insurance coverage and benefit design, health care costs and quality, Medicare sustainability, long-term services and supports, financial reporting and solvency, and professionalism.

Health practice-area breakout sessions at Envision Tomorrow, the Academy’s 2023 Annual Meeting, provided valuable perspectives on key issues including prescription drug costs, the Affordable Care Act, and behavioral health.
