ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
Whether you are a new Academy volunteer or a seasoned veteran or chairperson, you are encouraged to tune in to our Volunteer Orientation Webinar to learn how to make your volunteer experience with the Academy a successful one or refresh your understanding of the various processes that volunteers adhere to in order to carry out the Academy’s objective work. Our volunteer orientation webinar will provide an efficient and comprehensive way for both chairpersons or any volunteer to familiarize yourself with and reinforce your understanding of the Academy’s structure, policies, guidelines, and resources that apply to your volunteer work.
Shawna Ackerman, immediate past president, and Tom Campbell, president-elect-both former practice council vice presidents with extensive volunteer experience-will provide an overview of the Academy’s mission and ways that you can work together to advance that mission and the actuarial profession. They also will cover:
- What you need to know to ensure a successful committee (and practice council, task force, and work group) experience;
- Information for a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of chairpersons and volunteers as they engage in Academy activities;
- Procedures that are required to be followed; and
- Tips to enhance the Academy volunteer experience.
Academy staff, including Executive Director Mary Downs and Director of Public Policy Craig Hanna, will help moderate and facilitate questions and answers. The webinar is provided free of charge to all Academy volunteers.
All chairpersons and volunteers are strongly encouraged to join this webinar, no matter whether you are a newcomer or a veteran, to help you have an enjoyable and effective tenure as an Academy volunteer.
