Chairperson and Volunteer Orientation
April 2, 2019 | Noon to 1 p.m. EDT
Learn how to make your volunteer experience with the Academy a successful one or refresh your understanding of the various processes that volunteers adhere to in order to carry out the Academy’s objective work. Our chairperson and volunteer orientation webinar will provide an efficient and comprehensive way for you to familiarize yourself with and refresh your understanding of the Academy’s structure, policies, guidelines, and resources that apply to your volunteer work. This presentation will cover what you should know to ensure a successful committee (and practice council, task force, and work group) experience for you and other participants, providing information for a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities chairpersons and volunteers engage in Academy activities.
Shawna Ackerman, president of the Academy, and Secretary/Treasurer Tom Campbell—both former practice council vice presidents with extensive volunteer experience—will provide an overview of the Academy’s mission and ways that you can work together to advance that mission and the actuarial profession. Procedures that are required to be followed and tips for successful engagement in the Academy volunteer experience will also be covered. Academy staff, including Executive Director Mary Downs and Director of Public Policy Craig Hanna, will help moderate and facilitate questions and answers.
The webinar is provider free of charge to all volunteers.
All chairpersons and volunteers are strongly encouraged to join this webinar, no matter whether you are a newcomer or a veteran, to help you have an enjoyable and effective tenure as an Academy volunteer.
