Dear Academy Member: There’s still time for you to maximize your Academy membership by volunteering to serve on a committee, task force, work group or write for an Academy publication. Please take a moment now to complete the Academy Volunteer Survey before it closes on July 9, 2010.

Whether you’ve never volunteered with the Academy before, haven’t been active in a while, or are looking to work on something new, there’s a place for you on an Academy committee, task force or work group.

There are a couple of new items in this year’s survey that are worth noting. This year’s survey has a new option for you to consider, one that may be of particular interest to members with limited time for volunteer activities: The Academy Advisors. A virtual committee, the Academy Advisors will respond to periodic, brief, focused online surveys on subjects of vital interest to the Academy’s work in the areas of public policy and professionalism.

Also new this year is this question: “Are you interested in leading a workgroup or subgroup?” I believe that one of the genuine benefits to members who volunteer for the Academy is the opportunity to advance their own career by developing a record of leadership in the profession. We hope, with this simple question, to help identify the next generation of the Academy’s and the profession’s leaders.

Volunteering for the Academy offers great benefits for your own professional growth, career development, networking opportunities and developing relationships with leaders within the profession - all while contributing your time, talent and expertise to furthering the profession.

Please join hundreds of your colleagues who work on behalf of the Academy and the profession; complete the Academy Volunteer Survey now. Remember, the survey closes July 9.
