The Actuarial Update

After 38 years of providing reliable news of Academy activities, the December 2008 issue of the Actuarial Update was the last one to be delivered to your doorstep. Starting with the January 2009 issue, that same news is now being delivered to your inbox as a link to a PDF file of the Update. Meanwhile, the Academy is planning a comprehensive redesign of its website. As part of that future rollout, the Update will find its permanent home on the website as an online-only publication. The Update's content will be updated twice a month, at which time the Academy will send out an HTML-formatted e-mail featuring a preview of the stories for each online issue.

These changes will enable the Academy to communicate news to its membership quicker, easier, and at better value - while reducing our carbon footprint. Thank you to all who continue to contribute to the Update's award-winning success.

Make sure you're receiving e-mail notification of Actuarial Update

If you're an Academy member and didn't receive e-mails notifying you that the January issue of the Update was online, then the Academy doesn't have your correct e-mail information. You can verify your contact information on the Academy's member log-in page. You can make the changes yourself online or send an e-mail to membership@actuary.org. Also, don't forget to check your personal account settings on your log-in page to make sure you have allowed the Academy to notify you of its publications via e-mail.

The quality of the Update's content and design has been recognized by members and by publishing professionals. The Update has won numerous Society of National Association Publications awards in recent years, including:

• national gold awards for general excellence, newswriting, and most improved newsletter.
• national silver awards for general excellence.
