Principle-based approaches: Experience studiesThe Academy has created the Experience Studies/Research Interface Subcommittee to identify research needs of the groups that are involved with the principle-based project. The subcommittee chair heads the joint Academy-Society of Actuaries Preferred Mortality Project Oversight Group, which is supervising research to contribute to the development of new valuation standards that would reflect various levels of preferred mortality, as has been requested by the NAIC’s Life and Health Actuarial Task Force. The Academy will also participate in an oversight group for a Society of Actuaries- LIMRA study of individual life insurance lapse experience. That group is currently being formed. More info
