I am applying for a partial dues waiver for 2008. 

I qualify for the partial waiver because:

  • I am on temporary leave from the work force (for any reason, including unemployment or partial disability), and I anticipate I will earn no more than $28,000 from actuarial activities in 2008.
  • I am under age 70, retired from active employment, and anticipate that I will earn no more than $28,000 from actuarial activities in 2008.



Please note:
If you are granted a partial waiver and you earn more than $28,000 from actuarial activities in 2008, you are obliged to notify the Academy and pay the full dues amount ($555).

How partial waivers work

  • Partial waivers are based on a member's employment status as of Jan. 1, 2008.
  • The waivers are intended for members who will be out of the work force the entire calendar year.
  • If you are granted a partial waiver and you earn more than $28,000 from actuarial activities in 2008, you are obliged to notify the Academy and pay the full dues amount.
  • Generally, partial waivers are granted one year at a time. There is one exception: When retired actuaries 55 and older receive a partial waiver, they do not need to reapply every year.
  • Anyone receiving a dues waiver is required to notify the Academy if he or she no longer meets the stated criteria.
  • If you are granted a partial waiver, your dues for 2008 will be $100. You will be billed after the request is approved.
  • All requests for partial dues waivers must be submitted by May 1, 2008.

Members with partial waivers are eligible to receive the Actuarial Update, Contingencies magazine, Inside the Academy, annual meeting notices, voting material for proposed bylaw amendments, and material from the Actuarial Standards Board.
