Raise the Social Security retirement age
The Academy is urging policymakers to immediately address Social Security's long-term financial problems by raising the normal retirement age to reflect increased longevity.
The Academy held a news conference in Washington to announce it would be advocating an increase in the retirement age and to release its position statement on the issue.
