  • Social Security, Medicare still pose big problems
    The Greenville News (Jan. 23, 2008). Just days before the South Carolina Democratic primary, an editorial in The Greenville News focused on the lack of “comprehensive attention” from federal lawmakers and the presidential candidates on Social Security and Medicare’s financial issues. The editorial cited an American Academy of Actuaries issue brief, “ Medicare’s Financial Condition: Beyond Actuarial Balance.”
  • Will aging boomers lose benefits?
    USA Today (Jan. 17, 2008). The Academy’s senior health fellow, Cori Uccello, is quoted in a USA Today feature analyzing the financial condition of America’s social insurance programs and who could be affected by reform. The Academy is also cited on Medicare reform.
  • Uccello: Presidential candidates failing to address Medicare’s looming insolvency
    Manchester, N.H., Union Leader (Dec. 3, 2007). The Academy’s senior health fellow authors an op-ed piece about the candidates' failing to address Medicare’s financial challenges.
