QS webcast slides online
See the speaker's slides from a recent Academy webcast on the Qualification Standards (QS). The webcast was presented by the Council on Professionalism, and more than 500 people attended.
August research conference
The 43rd Actuarial Research Conference will be held Aug. 14-16 at the University of Regina in Regina, SK, Canada. The event is cosponsored by the Academy. June 30 is the deadline both for registering early and for submitting an abstract.

Hill briefing set for July 11
The Academy's Capitol Hill briefing on July 11 will demystify actuarial equivalence determinations for health plans. The briefing is open to policymakers, Hill staffers, and others, but space is limited.

“The Petabyte Age,” the cover subject for the July issue of Wired magazine, includes an article on pricing
terrorism risk that highlights actuarial work and cites an Academy analysis presented to the President's Working Group on Financial Markets.
Resources for voters
"Election 2008," a
new set of online resources, is designed to help voters better understand
a few key public policy issues. It includes an
election guide on Social Security reform, short backgrounders on
health care topics, and helpful news links.
Examining longevity's costs
The North American Actuarial Council asks the Academy to help put the
implications of increasing longevity into "the forefront of public policy discourse."
Help from PAL
The Academy's Pension Assistance List (PAL) program helps people who have questions about their pension plans.
