Capitol Hill Briefing on Pensions 101
June 1, 2001

The June 1 "Pensions 101" event marked the first of several educational briefings the Academy is hosting on Capitol Hill in the summer of 2001. Academy President Larry Johansen, Pension Vice President James Turpin, and Senior Pension Fellow Ron Gebhardtsbauer gave an overview of various types of pension plans, then discussed federal plans. The audience included congressional and executive branch staff, among others.

As a follow-up, a "Pensions 201" Capitol Hill briefing is planned for Aug. 3. It will cover address the implications of the comprehensive pension reform bill passed by Congress as part of President Bush's sweeping tax cut legislation.
