Actuarial Equivalence of Medicare Prescription Drug Plans
Capitol Hill Briefing
American Academy of Actuaries
Society of Actuaries
July 21, 2003
Corey Berger, a senior consultant with Reden and Anders Ltd., was the
featured speaker at the July 21, 2003, Capitol Hill briefing that drew a
standing-room-only crowd of about 120 people.
The briefing, sponsored by the Academy and the Society of
Actuaries, gave congressional staff and policy-makers a chance to ask
questions about actuarial equivalence as it could apply to competing
Medicare prescription drug proposals passed by the House and Senate. At
the time of the briefing, the two proposals were awaiting consideration
by a congressional conference committee that would try to reconcile
them. The briefing was moderated by Cori Uccello, the Academy's senior
health fellow.
After the briefing, congressional staffers and others wait to talk to Corey Berger (at right).
